What is an epigenetic biomarker?
Epigenetics concerns changes in how genes are regulated without changing the underlying DNA sequence. MiND also studies RNA modifications and gene activity to build a broader picture of disease-related molecular changes.
A biomarker is a measurable biological signal. Our research asks whether patterns within these molecular layers could provide useful information about MND/ALS.
Why a platform matters
The platform provides a framework for identifying and evaluating biomarker candidates. MND/ALS is the initial focus. Evidence from this programme may inform future research in other neurodegenerative diseases, with each new application requiring its own validation.
